SpecWorks Projects

Simpson Builders has delivered a wide range of exceptional projects across the Highlands—and far more than we can showcase here. If you’d like to explore additional examples or discuss a specific type of project, we’d be delighted to hear from you.

Swiss Cottage – Balnagown Estate

This project involved the complete refurbishment of a charming period-style cottage within the historic Balnagown Estate, now serving as high-quality letting accommodation. The renovation focused on preserving the building’s traditional character while upgrading it to modern standards of comfort and efficiency.

Works included internal and external improvements, with original features carefully restored and high-spec finishes applied throughout. The project was delivered in collaboration with Savills as project managers, interior designer Jacqui Stone, and Alan Ross Decorators, who provided the final decorative touches.

The result is a beautifully finished property that blends heritage with contemporary style, offering guests a refined and comfortable stay in the heart of the Highlands.

New Start Highland Alterations

Simpson Builders was appointed as main contractor for the refurbishment and alteration works at New Start Highland’s premises in Inverness, supporting the charity’s ambitious expansion and the launch of Scotland’s first Training & Reuse Village. This pioneering initiative promotes sustainable living while creating new employment and training opportunities.

The project involved reconfiguring and upgrading two existing units to accommodate retail, training, and community services. Works included internal downtakings, new partitions, and full fit-out with doors, screens, and finishes. A new link corridor was constructed to improve connectivity between buildings, and mechanical and electrical systems were comprehensively upgraded for energy efficiency.

External works included the creation of a dedicated bike hub pod and landscaping improvements to enhance access and usability. This project reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable solutions that meet operational needs while supporting community development.
